Zinnias, berries, Queen Anne’s lace and lilacs

Zinnias and berries in flower arrangement
lilac and queen anne's lace
Are your zinnias in bloom yet? Here’s an idea for a lovely summery display. In the top photo blazing orange zinnias are mixed with berries, Queen Anne’s lace, crocosmia and greenery. Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora is actually a weed here, but there are cultivated varieties sold now that are more restrained.

The second arrangement also contains Queen Anne’s lace, mixed this time with lilacs and dark purple scabiosa. Scabiosa ‘Black Knight’, which is available from Kings Seeds, could be just the ticket. Creator Chelsea Fuss suggests a substitute of buddleia for lilac in late summer – and again, you’ll have to seek out the non-weedy type.

Want to know how it’s done? Head on over to Delightfully Engaged where Chelsea provides step-by-step instructions for putting together the fiery zinnia arrangement. The second arrangement features over on Chelsea’s blog, Frolic.

  1. Love these! I’ve just had masses of Viburnum Trilobum in the studio from up the Waihopai Valley… worked a treat with terracotta dahlias and mango callas. J
