Head to the potted colour section of your local garden centre and you’ll find these brightly coloured brassicas in store now. They make superb cut flowers or vibrant bedding plants for the garden, with their strong sturdy stems and purple, cream and green hues. You can sow seeds to raise your own, or for instant colour plant small plants or seedlings. Click through to Design Sponge to see how to use them in a bouquet.

Hi there!
I am a small vegetable grower, and I’m going to be growing flowering kale for my wedding and a friend’s wedding this October. I am having a hard time finding variety names and seed companies for the two purple kales you have in your pictures above. I would love to know what the variety names and seed companies are where you buy your kale seeds. If you’re not comfortable posting on here, please email me. I will not be any competition for you as this is something I will only be doing this year.
Thanks for your help!
Hi Adriane
I source all my flowers and plants in New Zealand, as that is where I’m based, so I may not be much help to you. But in any case, Egmont Seeds has flowering kale (see here), as does Niche Seeds (see here), both based in NZ. Jane
