Forget-me-nots (Myosotis) have staying power, both in the garden and the vase. They last up to two weeks as a cut flower and are a great substitute for gypsophila. The white variety is often sold on Trade Me; the blue variety is sold by most seed companies. Look for seed packets at your local garden centre or online. It’s your last chance to sow them for late winter/spring flowering. In warmer areas sow them directly in the garden; in cooler spots your best bet at this time of year is to plant them in containers for transplanting later. Or keep them in pots, as the photos, from Loretoidas Flickr group, show here.
