The fabulous folk at Kiwicare are offering Flaming Petal readers the chance to WIN one of five bottles of their new Organic Weedfree Rapid. This stuff is amazing. It’s a super fast-acting natural weed killer that works within three hours. Truly it does. I’ve used it myself. It’s BioGro certified too, so you can be certain you’re using a totally organic product.
To go into the draw to win one of five bottles, simply write a comment on this post. It’s easy. You don’t need to register for anything. Just type away. Don’t panic if your comment doesn’t appear straight away – I have to approve it first. That’s just to stop spammers from getting through. You don’t need to put any contact details on the post either. Your post automatically sends me your email – but no one else can see it. And I certainly won’t be showing anyone.
You can write anything you like. Tell me your favourite flower, your best gardening/weeding tip, or just say hi.
The competition closes Sunday 27th November 2011. Winners will be notified by email. Good luck!
While you’re here, check out Kiwicare’s website. It has a FANTASTIC garden solutions page where you can identify and solve your garden problems.

Hi, looking forward to spending time in my garden this weekend to tackle my weed problem. Strawberries growing really well, and the birds are really enjoying them!
Sounds like what you need is a strawberry house!
Hi Jane – thanks for the regular, and oh-so-pretty, inspirational posts. I do enjoy them!
Hi Jane really enjoy receiving your emails.
Hi Jane
I wrote to a while ago about having my new cottage garden flowering on que for my daughters wedding which is next Friday 18/11/2011 and I took your advise and planted roses. This year the weather is very different than it was this time last year, it hasn’t been very warm and so everything has been quite slow in other words alot of it isn’t flowering I have had 2 roses so far, I have been feeding it and got told by a friend I was loving it too much, so I am a bit over it and have ignored it for the last 2 weeks. As for the sweetpeas I was growing for her bouquet EPIC FAIL thank goodness I gave some seeds to my friends to grow as a back up. Anyway I’m not worried leaves of different varieties look nice in a garden, I just hope it doesn’t rain next Friday. Thanks Carol
One of my roses is later this year than usual too. All in bud and ready to pop, but I’d say another week. If I was you I’d pop down to the garden centre and buy some potted colour to plant in containers and dot these around your garden. And maybe some in the beds too. You’d be surprised how ‘full’ they make your garden look. Or you could borrow some already flowering containers from friends. I’m sure they’d be happy to help out.
Good luck for the big day!
Weed killer yeah anything to save the old knees and back!!love your page each week Jane and buy much of what you suggest.
Hi Jane,
Thanks so much for making this website with its newsletters – they have been very useful! My husband and I bought our first home under a year ago, and I’ve enjoyed slowly working out a) what I want with the garden and b) how to do this. While there of course many websites that give information about plants, I love that yours is specific to New Zealand, and especially that it gives seasonal information, and that it is focused on flowers and pretty things rather than just fruit and veggies. I look forward to having lovely displays on the tables etc well as outside. Your website also looks gorgeous and is a pleasure to use. Accordingly, I’ve recommended it to friends as well, so they can enjoy it and the advice, too.
Thanks very much, and keep it up!
Hello Jane
Your webpages are so clean, appealing and form of brillance shows through with all your knowledge and resources, a site I often visit for inspiration. Interested in going into the your new draw for the O.W.Rapid.
Thank you.
Loving your site – wish my tulips ended up looking that good. Great to be around other garden-addicts as my gardening-addiction is a ‘hobby’ that not everyone can relate to!
Hi Jane, I really enjoy reading your articles and this morning’s really caught my eye with that photo of the lovely Cleome. I’ll be keeping a look out for that one in the garden centres.
My husband reckons it’s a bit like him; not just ornamental but useful to have around
Thanks very much
Hi Jane,
Your column is essential reading as I am currently doing a course in organic horticulture so your information is just perfect timimg for me.
Many thanks.
Hi Jane
Just love the look of your website! Keep up the good work.
The Organic Weedkiller looks like it would be just the thing for us. We do a lot of spraying in the summer as we have a large section.
“Cheers!”

Hi Jane
Organic weedkiller is just what I need.
I have a full-on full time job looking after people with intellectual disabilities. My weekends are spent in my 1 1/4 acre garden that I refuse to kill with non-organic products, but it’s starting to get the better of me after 4 years.
I desperately need some help!
Love your newsletter.
Thank you.

Hi Jane,
I enjoy your columns. Have just been out in my garden and require alot of spray to get it under control, it is a huge garden and hasnt been regularly dealt with, however I made progress today, I converted a small garden back to lawn!!
Always interested in the more organic/natural way to deal with things.
Cheers
Linda
Hi Jane
Just what I need, I garden as organically as possible but do use round up on occasions – I would love to be able to stop that though. Planning on a trip to buy this before my next spraying session – it I don’t win one of course
Hi Jane
I have been looking everywhere for an organic fast acting weed killer for my paths this sounds just the ticket. I enjoy your column.
Hi there, I’m new to your site. It looks great. I’m really interested in alternatives to the poisons that I presently use around my 3 acres. Has to be good for me and the environment!
Just planted my first vege garden and starting to do a bit of general gardening so any help with weeds would be great!
Perry
Hi love your website – my new favourite.
I like using organic products and will try the weedfree rapid on the paths
as I don’t like using the other chemicals as we have little dogs and don’t want them walking where Ive sprayed chemicals for a few days
I’ve read your columns but never been to this website before – subscribed – loving it!
Gardening has always been a passion of mine. I love it !!
Would love the chance to try this organic weedkiller. I do use weedkiller, but never really have liked using it, the smell is enough to make you realise how potent it is!! The Organic Weedfree Rapid is organic AND natural and also endorsed by you : ) By the way my favourite flower is the rose, but right now I am a little obsessed with succulents, so easy to grow and can endure many, many days without watering (which is great for me lol).
I spend time in my vege garden most days and weekends…after reading your article in your weekend. I find it very helpful. I am very keen to try the organic weedfree Rapid from Kiwicare.
Do you have a solution for an ant problem in the vege garden, or, arethey acceptable to leave there?
Kind Regards
Denise
Hi Denise. Ants can be a nuisance because they damage soil structure as well as plant roots. Kiwicare has some great products that deal to ants. Click on this link here for advice on controlling them.
Hi Jane
I find the best way to keep the weeds under control is to get my four year old out with a bucket – he loves helping with the weeding!!
Fabulous! I wish I had a four-year-old!
Hi Jane. This Organic Weedfree Rapid sounds great; do you know if it will kill woody plants? I’ve had to remove a woody creeper that was taking over, and am scared it will sprout again shortly. Your advice appreciated! Pip
Hi Pip
The Organic Weedfree Rapid is best for grass weeds, broadleaf weeds, clovers and moss. For woody plants, you’d need something like Kiwicare’s Woody Weed Control or their No Weeds Gel. Neither of these are organic, but they are especially for hard-to-kill weeds.
After my 19 year old son was diagnosed with Cancer I stopped using sprays in my garden, so I am very keen to try this and get back into my garden after nursing my son for 12 months. My favourite flower is the gerbera. I have some in my garden that my late favourite Aunt had in her garden, so they have very special meaning for me.
Hi Jane
I enjoy your page in your weekend (hubby reads it to) it is always interesting and informative, but your website is something else – it is beautiful. Compliments aside I would love a bottle of the organic weed killer for those inbetween the cracks weeds that reappear all too often.
Regards Christine
Hi Jane
Loving the emails and your website.
Every picture is worth framing!!!!
And the ideas are fabulous.
Thank you for the inspirations.
Rocky
This could be the solution to out problem. Weeds has completely taken over our garden. We are starting our veggie garden but getting rid of all the weeds and just taking a lot of time. I can’t wait to see the fruits of our labour.
Hi Jane,
I enjoy reading your gardening page in our weekend paper. Will get lots of information and tips from your website page.
My favourite plants are roses and they are blooming so well this year. I have 70 iceberg roses that I have at work and they are a picture at the moment.
I’ve enjoyed your website for presenting the possibilities available, the flowers are beautiful and inspire me to plant more. This year I added tulips with great success, so thank you Jane for your website, and the creative flair in which you put it all together.
I could really do with something like this to deal with the blackberries just outside my fence
This product looks great. I have 3 holiday home neighbours in my little cul-de-sac that I keep an eye on for the owners. If i could talk them all into buying this weed killer it would be better for my health when i spray for them.
This is an awesome site for gardeners Thank you.
